gable hoods and tudor stuff for

Jul. 18th, 2005 10:05 amhere's a page about gable hoods.
anne boleyn and young queen elizabeth would have both worn french hoods, which were fashionable after the gable hood. but you could still fudge it since a similar style of dress was worn with both types of hoods. (and before you eliminate anne boleyn as a possibility, note that she does get to wear a cute "b" initial necklace!) although henry viii's third wife, jane seymour (right after anne bolyen) went back to the gable hood for a bit. possibly to make herself reminiscent of henry's first wife, catherine of aragon, just as things were going sour with anne...
some images for you:
anne boleyn
holbein drawing of an english lady with gable hood
elizabeth, while still a princess, around age 13
jane seymour (i'm using this as the template for my tudor, although i prefer the french hood for my own giant head, hee hee)
i think with your girl's all-black hood, an all-black or black-and-white gown would be exquisite. maybe with jet beading if you really want to keep it sort of goth and dramatic? or you can bring in some gold or silver to make it more regal?
